I'd agree with every one of those except Carpool, in the summer with the doors open it's not bad, but in the cold months it's overpoweringly smoky. I might include Whitlow's, Clarendon Grill and Eleventh, but I guess they didn't want to go too Clarendon-heavy.
Where's the love for Shirlington? How about Busboys & Poets?
Agreed. Carpool is too smokey most of the time. Galaxy is a star that still most people don't know about. Love their beers. I'd go Whitlow's too since they still have original bands play unlike the greek row mixer that is Ballroom.
NO! on Whitlow's... smoky, crowded, bartenders are slow with no personality, security is rude, the pool tables are dirty and run mafia-style by the regulars.
Also, Clarendon Grill is shady and waaay too crowded. I know two girls who have been drugged there, luckily they both were with friends and made it home safely.
How about some love for Arlington's locally owned dive bars? It doesn't get more authentic than Jay's Saloon, Cowboy Cafe, and L.A. Bar. At least you can get a table and a pitcher at those places.
Stop talking about Jay's! That's been my bar for a decade, and more and more these frat row douchebags that are moving in here are killing what's left of the Arlington I love.
Tonight's Overheard at Jay's Conversation:"Ron Paul makes a lot of sense!" and "Tomorrow, we're going to go see the NRA headquarters!"
Columbia Pike corridor you imagine--no, not really. We now have a Lost Dog cafe, which is great. LA Bar is smoke-filled and basementy. Bangkok 54 has a nice bar attached to the restaurant but closes early. And...that's about it.

I guess the only people who vote for the best bars are smokers eh? lol

Jay's is the only bar in Arlington worth going to.

Remove Carpool, its fun but not the best. Add Eleventh to that list.
11:43 PM
no jay's saloon!?!
10:48 PM
I say no bueno on Whitlow's (tho I'll go there for brunch I don't think it's a top tier night spot.
Def needs to add 11th to the list!

Fuck off, people.

Galaxy Hut has a good clientelle but it's crowded and small and when they play music it's just way too loud.
Space has limitations.
Liberty is kind of expensive and yuppiish.
Carpool I like, I'd add Bailey's and I'd imagine there are also good things in the Columbia Pike corridor.
